On the edge of a forest bordering the Castle of Lions, two small dark figures lurked. One of them looked up the hill and saw kids and grown ups dressed in Halloween costumes going to the celebration.

"We got here just in time," he whispered.

"I’m hot," his companion said wearily.

"Morgill, you said you wanted to be a dinosaur."

"Yeah, but I didn’t say I wanted to be a big purple dinosaur with a silly grin on its face."

"You should have been more specific," he replied. "Hagar said Terran kids love this character. His name is Barney and he has a TV show."

"She got back at me for hurting her blue robeast," he whined.

"Stop complaining, dimwit," he hissed.

Morgill heaved a heavy sigh and glanced at the boy. He was dressed in a black jumpsuit with attached wings and a black mask. The addition of shoulder pads and muscled chest gave him the appearance of a steely superhero. "And who are you supposed to be, Your Highness?"

"I’m Batman, from Batman Beyond."

"Can we switch costumes?"

"No!"

"Doh!"

"Come on. We must hurry. We need to get our hands on those delicious Halloween treats."
