With flowers in hand, he reached her door. He was ten minutes early and wasn't sure if he should wait or let her know he was there. After a moment of hesitation, he decided on the latter and knocked softly on her door. It only took a second before it slid open, and he almost wondered if she had been waiting on the other side.

"Hi, Hunk! You look so nice," she said. And he did, wearing a pair of dark brown slacks with a cream-colored dress shirt.

Hunk was at a temporary loss. She was a vision. The color of her dress set off all the fiery highlights of her red hair and made her green eyes even greener. Not to mention showing off her fantastic shape.

Geni grinned. She was glad that she had decided on the dark rust-colored dress. It was snug, with three-quarter length envelope sleeves and a straight skirt that fell just above her knees. She remembered hesitating to toss it in with the rest of her things when she was packing to come here. She was sure glad she'd changed her mind and brought it, and the matching pair of stiletto heels, too.

"Are those for me?" She asked, hoping to bring him back from where ever he was.

"I'm sorry." Hunk began sheepishly as he handed her the flowers. "It's just… Wow, you look gorgeous."

"Thank you." She felt herself blush, something she didn't do very often.

"Tonight, I thought we'd go into Daxton, it's a small town about three miles from here. They have a nice pub and a couple of restaurants. I thought we'd grab a bite to eat and then come back here to maybe watch a movie." He hesitated, worrying for the first time that his plans might seem awfully boring to a girl who was semi-famous back on Terra. "I hope that's all right. I mean, there really aren't a lot of places to go out on a date here on Arus. Well, not like there are on Terra, anyway."

She didn't even hesitate in her answer. "You're right about there being a lot more places to go on Terra, but all those place to go wouldn't be much fun without you."

He couldn't hide his huge smile or his flushing cheeks, so he simply held out his arm and said, "Thank you," when she took it.

Hunk had arranged for a carriage to take them into Daxton. They shared a late meal and a lot of laughter, and couldn't believe that it was almost ten when they finally returned to the castle. The Big Guy hopped out of the carriage and hurried around to help his date down, but paused at the back.

He pulled a small cylindrical object from his pocket and hit the tiny button that would let him send a message.

"Yellow here, on our way."

"Green here, message read, out."

He quickly stuffed the transmitter back into his pocket and rushed to the carriage door. As he helped his date down, he asked, "So, are you still up for that movie?"

Geni smiled sweetly, "Sure, but what about you? Don't you have practice early in the morning?"

"Ah, don't worry about me. I'll be fine."

"Then a movie it is."

He nodded as he guided her back into the castle and through the maze of hallways that lead to the ballroom. When they reached the door, she turned to look at him with open curiosity.

"I think you're lost, Hunk. This is the ballroom, not the rec room." She teased.

He chuckled. "Sometimes I think I'm lost, too." He opened the doors and guided her in.

The first thing she noticed was the tinkling of a piano accompanied by the husky sounds of a saxophone, both merging with the slow thudding of a drum. The sounds were soft, the music almost heady.

She smiled, slowly. She didn't remember ever mentioning how much she loved to unwind to the relaxing sounds of softly played jazz. She wondered how had he known.

She looked around the room in growing wonder. The flickering candles throughout gave the impression that the room itself was alive, slowly swaying along with the beat of the music. She inhaled deeply and the sweet scent of flowers reached her delicate nose. She stepped inside, her high-heeled shoes clicking on the polished wood of the floor. Her eyes swept around the room once again and she sighed, feeling a bit swept away by her romantic surroundings. Orchids, roses, lavender. He'd thought of everything. He watched intently as the beautiful woman at his side turned to him and smiled. In the soft glow of the candlelight, her red hair shimmered with a fire all it's own. Her green eyes were bright with emotion when she spoke.

"You did all this? For me?"

Hunk nodded as he felt his cheeks heat up with a dark red stain. He suddenly felt so very shy, but refused to look away from Geni's beautiful face.

"With a little help. I thought with Keith leaving, and Lance being…well, Lance, I thought you could use a break."

Her smile faltered only a little and tears filled her eyes.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have-" A slender finger against his lips silenced him.

She shook her head. "No, I'm not crying because of my brothers. Neither of them." She stepped back, reaching out and taking his huge hands within her tiny ones.

"No man has ever done something like this for me." The tears remained in her eyes, but her smile had returned. "The music, the candles, the flowers… I just-I'm overwhelmed by how sweet and thoughtful it all is."

He smiled softly, touched by her words. Before he lost his nerve, he leaned forward and placed a tender kiss on her inviting lips. As he pulled away, he brought one hand up, letting his fingers stroke the velvety skin of her cheek. "You deserve it. You deserve a lot more."

Her eyes glowed and she felt herself flush. "I can't imagine why some girl hasn't snagged your heart," she said teasingly, attempting to recapture the lighter mood they'd been enjoying only a few minutes before.

"Maybe the right one will." He paused letting his eyes fill with all the emotion in his heart. "Maybe she already has."

She felt frightened, not of him, but of the feelings she felt for him. Her feelings were so intense, she thought they could grow no stronger, but found that with each passing day, they seemed to double. She stopped her thoughts. Her feelings, they were best left for exploring when she was alone. She took a deep breath and smiled shyly up at her companion.

He took a backward step toward the middle of the room, still holding on tightly to one of her delicate hands. "Wanna dance?"

Her shy smile turned into one filled with warmth and agreement. "I'd love to." She stepped into his arms and together they began to move with the romantic sounds of the soft music.

When the klaxons began to sound, Geni almost jumped out of her skin.

"Gotta go." Hunk said, already heading for the door. When he reached it, he paused and looked back. "Wait for me?"

She gave him her widest smile. "Always."

Geni looked around the room and sighed. Hunk was the sweetest, most romantic man she'd ever known. Her smile became soft and dreamy as she moved around the room, blowing out the candles and gathering the flowers into the basket she'd noticed near the door. They'd be a perfect compliment to the ones that currently sat in her room.

She couldn't believe Hunk had done all this for her. For the first time, she understood what her mom had been trying to tell her for a long time.

She thought she'd been in love many times before, now she realized she had loved, but never been in love. Her mother had told her there was a difference in the two. She'd also said that she wouldn't know the difference until she'd experienced both. She hated to admit it, but her mom had been right.

For the first time in her life, Geni knew what it was to be in love.
